August’s Treasure of the Month is actually a treasure within a treasure. On June 1st, 2003, Captain Jon Wilson and his crew were working on the Cabin Wreck, one of the most productive of the 1715 Fleet wreck sites. They found an ornate gold box, which was a treasure in and of itself. What was in the box is what makes this find so unique. There inside was a magnificent cross studded with emeralds, a five-foot long chain, and two gold rings! Truly a treasure within a treasure.
